I will be honest... when I first started 12 years

I will be honest... when I first started 12 years ago, I never used to *love* the family portions of my newborn sessions. Because, truth be told, I LOVED photographing the babies only. I was intentional with placing the parent photos at the beginning of my sessions so I would have the most patience and most energy to take them. My frustration was with ME not with the parents or the children. I felt like I was terrible at them, I couldn't figure out how to encourage toddlers to participate with a new sibling. Or how to make post-partum moms feel beautiful and not critical of themselves. Or how to make dads enjoy getting their portraits taken. As the years have gone on and as my knowledge has increased, I have found I LOVE the family portraits. These are often the MOST important photos I take during the session, with sibling poses being the number 1 image I need to get.
Photography has come a long way in 12 years and so has my patience and understanding (and grace for myself)

Anyone else grow up putting their trees up the day

Anyone else grow up putting their trees up the day after Thanksgiving?
I did but as an adult, I acutally make a habit of killing our trees weeks before Christmas so we have held off the past few years until a week or two before the holiday.
This year, we are going to be super Brave and put it up the first weekend in December.
Sometimes... I wish we still had a fake one.
