+ How do you pick what colors you use for each session? find out my answer below

I really loved meeting Baby Heath for his newborn photography session. What a chunky, gorgeous baby he was, and he had a solid nap for his entire newborn session which enabled me to produce such an amazing gallery of images for his family to treasure.

Often, I get asked about newborn photography sessions and how I choose the colors that clients will see during the session and in their final photos.

When a mom (or dad) book me for their newborn session they fill out a client form. This form helps me design their newborn photos. It asks about colors they want to see in their session and colors they don’t want to see. The form goes over session from my website they love and asks about poses they really like. The design form also asks about props they are bringing to the session (not necessary as the studio is fully stocked) but oftentimes clients have sentimental items they want posed with their newborns.

If a client “really doesn’t care” then I design the session myself. Sometimes I choose the colors and props based on what I haven’t photographed in a while or a set up I have been wanting to do. Sometimes I pick the colors based on the newborn’s nursery colors or the baby’s skin tones.

At the end of the day, these photos go on my clients’ walls. They are for my clients to treasure and have very little to do with me so its important that my clients have a say in what I am doing.
