Because our kids are older, Christmas looks a litt Because our kids are older, Christmas looks a little different these days. As they grew, our rule became simple. Stockings were fair game whenever they woke up, but gifts waited until the adults crawled out of bed and had coffee first. Over the years, we’ve found them asleep together in the living room after waking up in the middle of the night, opening their stockings side by side, then drifting back to sleep. As a parent, that part brings me the most joy. For them, the stockings are the best part of Christmas. I go all out every year. Their favorite? Scratch tickets, without fail. First Christmas traditions start early around here First Christmas traditions start early around here 🎄 Do you open gifts Christmas Eve or Christmas morning? Growing up, our family always opened one gift on Christmas Eve and the rest on Christmas morning. We carried that tradition into our own family, and as our kids got older, that one gift became a family game each year so we could slow down and spend real time together that evening. Some of our favorites have been Ticket to Ride, all the Villainous games, card games, Whoonu (Cranium), and Codenames.
