Photographing Baby Owen’s first birthday

This adorable family just moved to Virginia a few weeks before our Cake Smash session took place. What a joy to meet this smiling boy for his cake smash photos! I love the rainbow idea mama choose for his birthday celebration. He really got into the cake and spread the sprinkles everywhere.  On the day of the session, we were doing the cake smash in the morning, inside the studio, and the family session outdoors at sunset. This particular day was rainy and dreary and not ideal for a photoshoot. Instead, we waited about a week and did the family photos later. These were taken at the Monticello Trail near Carters Mountain.
