And what YOU should know before booking your newborn photography session.

Are you eagerly anticipating the arrival of your little bundle of joy? As you embark on the journey of parenthood, there’s one thing you shouldn’t overlook—capturing those precious newborn moments. Now, you might be wondering, “How much do newborn photographers cost?” Or even the thought “why are they SO expensive” might have run through your mind. Let’s unravel the mystery of newborn photography pricing.

The Price Tag on Perfection

Newborn photography is an art, and like any masterpiece, it comes at a cost. So, how much are we talking about? What are your memories worth to you?

The Overhead, Oh My!

Photographers aren’t just wielding cameras; they’re orchestrating a symphony of creativity, skill, and patience. From specialized equipment to a treasure trove of adorable props, the overhead is like the secret sauce that makes your photos extraordinary.

Just to give you a quick idea on one set up – newborn wrap $80, newborn hat $40 Backdrop $40-$100, newborn bucket/crate/basket $40-$100. Posers $150, under wraps $25, heaters $200, shusher $30, headbands $20-35, stuffies $50+

This is just one set up. I own hundreds upon hundreds. Plus, a website, insurance, taxes, a studio, cameras, gear, hosting, advertising, gowns, studio lights, stands, backdrops… the list goes on for days.

My goal is for my clients to just show up. You dont even have to bring diapers or wipes etc.

Experience, the Greatest Teacher

Imagine entrusting your precious little one to someone who just mastered the art of holding a camera yesterday. Scary, right? Experience matters, especially when it comes to newborns. A seasoned newborn photographer has a magical touch, a sixth sense for calming those adorable little gurgles, and the knack for capturing the most heart-melting moments. Every year I take a class (sometimes two or three) to keep my skills up and current. I also have a LONG history as a NICU nurse, and there is NO better training to be had in handling newborns.

Google Reviews: The Holy Grail

In the digital age, Google reviews are the gold stars that guide us through the vast universe of choices. When selecting a newborn photographer, those sparkling reviews are your guiding lights. A photographer with a trail of happy clients is like a seal of approval that says, “Your baby is in good hands.”

Stress-Free Zone

Newborn photography sessions should be stress-free—no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Your photographer should be a zen master in the art of soothing, posing, and capturing. After all, the last thing you need is a frazzled photographer adding chaos to your already sleep-deprived world.

The Price of Peace of Mind

Now, let’s talk turkey. Investing in a skilled newborn photographer might feel like a splurge, but it’s an investment in preserving the fleeting moments of your little one’s early days. As the saying goes, “You get what you pay for.” In this case, what you’re getting is priceless memories that will last a lifetime.

So, when you’re pondering the question, “How much do newborn photographers cost?” remember, it’s not just a figure; it’s an investment in joy, in memories, and in capturing the essence of your growing family. Go ahead, splurge a little, and savor the sweet snapshots of your new adventure in parenthood!
