What exactly is a fresh 48 baby session? Will you shoot my birth too?

All fresh 48 sessions are booked in advance. These baby sessions are photographed at either Martha Jefferson Hospital OR UVA hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. They are done within 2 days of your baby’s birth. These are non posed, lifestyle photography sessions that include both parents and siblings.  At this time, I am unable to offer birth photography sessions due to the on-call nature of the session itself.

All Fresh 48 photography sessions are completed during daylight hours. Any family that is present can be included, we just ask that you limit the session time to important family and siblings as we really want the newborn session to be about your newborn baby and immediate family.

 

 

Do you bring photography props to the hospital?

No, Fresh 48 photography sessions are simple, lifestyle photos. Very little posing happens, it’s truly about capturing the magic as exactly it is. You are more than welcome to dress your newborn baby in their going-home outfit or bring a special swaddle and hat for the session. But this photo session is about emotions. So much happens after your new baby is born. The family is in and out. Staff is in and out. Your baby is coming and going. Test are being done. It goes so fast. This session is an hour that captures ALL those details, for you to look back on later. When things slow down just enough you can take the time to breathe and cherish every single second. I want to give you these movements forever.

 

 

What if we deliver our baby before our due date or our newborn ends up in the NICU?

Unfortunately, these things do happen. Not often, but every once in a while. if your baby ends up in the NICU we will chat about photographing them there, my experience as a NICU nurse makes me very comfortable photographing in the NICU.

If you go early, we will do our best to still get your session in!
