The second baby is always interesting. The first The second baby is always interesting.

The first baby gets the full experience.

You read the books.

You wash everything three times.

You carefully organize the nursery.

You sterilize things that absolutely did not need to be sterilized.

By the second baby, you're like...

"Where's the pacifier?"

"Is that clean?"

"Probably."

And somehow, you're just as completely in love.

Maybe more.

Because now you know.

You know how fast it goes.

You know that the newborn who currently seems to sleep all day will eventually be running through your house.

You know those tiny clothes won't fit for long.

And you know that even though you've done this before, this baby is completely, wonderfully different.

I love photographing second babies.

There is usually a little less perfection.

And a whole lot more confidence.
Newborn sessions are a little weird. We spend a r Newborn sessions are a little weird.

We spend a ridiculous amount of time talking about poop.

We celebrate burps.

We negotiate with babies who have absolutely no interest in our plans.

We all stand around staring at a sleeping infant like we've just witnessed a miracle.

Someone inevitably says, "How are they sleeping through this?"

And I am usually thinking, please don't say that out loud.

Then, somehow, in between all of that, we make these beautiful photographs.

I think that's one of my favorite things about newborn photography.

It looks very calm in the finished gallery.

The actual experience?

Much more chaotic.

And honestly, I wouldn't want it any other way.
To the mom recovering from a C-section who's been To the mom recovering from a C-section who's been wondering if a studio session is even realistic right now:

It is. But not in a push-through-it kind of way.

My sessions are paced around where you actually are. If you need to sit, you sit. If you need a break, we take one. There is no rushing, no timeline pressure, no expectation that you should be feeling like yourself yet.

Six days postpartum after a C-section is not the time to be sprinting out the door with a full family dressed and ready. We work around that - not in spite of it.

If you've been waiting until you feel 'ready,' send me a message. We'll figure out the timing together.
I Still Get Nervous After all these years… I s I Still Get Nervous

After all these years...

I still get a tiny knot in my stomach before every newborn session.

Not because I don't know what I'm doing.

Because every family has trusted me with something irreplaceable.

Those first days.

Those tiny details.

Their brand new baby.

That trust is never something I take for granted.
My Favorite Sound It's not the camera shutter. I My Favorite Sound

It's not the camera shutter.

It's not parents saying, "These are beautiful."

It's that first little newborn sigh when they finally settle into a deep sleep.

If you've ever had a newborn, you know exactly the sound I'm talking about.

That tiny exhale.

Every single time, I smile.
Every Baby Leads the Session I may have a plan wh Every Baby Leads the Session

I may have a plan when you walk through the door...

But your baby has the final say.

If they're extra sleepy, we'll capture those dreamy curled-up poses.

If they're wide awake, we'll photograph those beautiful eyes.

If they need extra cuddles, we pause.

Your baby's needs always come first, and I've learned over the years that the best galleries happen when we follow their lead.
Some families come to me already feeling behind be Some families come to me already feeling behind before they've even booked.

The NICU stay ran longer than expected. The due date has already passed. The newborn window feels like it closed without them.

None of that is true, and I'll explain exactly why - but first, just know this: if you're a NICU family reading this and wondering if it's too late, it isn't.

Reach out. That's the only step you need to take right now.
The Dad Who Didn't Want Pictures It happens almos The Dad Who Didn't Want Pictures

It happens almost every week.

Dad walks in carrying the diaper bag.

"I'll just do whatever she tells me."

He smiles politely.

Then I hand him his baby.

Everything changes.

The way he looks down.

The forehead kiss he didn't know I caught.

The tiny smile when those little fingers wrap around his.

I've learned over the years that dads don't usually love having their picture taken.

They just love their babies.

And somehow...that always shows.
