Meet Angela
If you learn only one thing about me, it should be that I love babies, plain and simple.
As a mother, I understand how quickly the newborn days become a blur, which explains why I might have the greatest job in the world. As a newborn, maternity, and milestone photographer, I get to spend my days holding sweet babies and capturing their squishy sweetness on film for families to cherish forever.
I first began to realize how much I adore babies when training to be a nurse. I asked to do a rotation in the NICU, and after a day of shadowing, I was smitten. It was love, and I knew then that no matter what I did for the rest of my life, I wanted newborns involved.
After several years in nursing, the birth of my son in 2010 prompted me to seek a career change because I was sleep deprived, exhausted, and burnt out. I left my job but missed working with newborns.
I spent the next year exploring photography. I couldn’t learn enough… fast enough. I decided to travel to New York and participate in a mentorship with a newborn photographer from California to perfect my skills.
I came home from that adventure feeling inspired and ready to make photography a business that would support my family and give me the ability to have hours that wouldn’t leave me so exhausted. I worked to create a job that allowed me to attend school field trips, eat dinner with my family, and get a full night’s sleep.
I never stop learning and still today take 2-3 classes a year. This industry changes constantly, growing in big ways. I hope to continue to grow right along with it.
I am a mom of two amazing human beings. Our oldest, 21, studies at Roanoke College. Our youngest, 11, participates in homeschool… Thank you, COVID-19. I married the most amazing man 23 years ago. He goes all in with every single decision I make. He is my biggest cheerleader in life, and I feel so blessed to have him.
My studio location has a Charlottesville address, but it is located in the outskirts of Crozet.
