Meet Angela – Your Charlottesville Newborn Photographer

Hello, I’m Angela!

Angela McNaul is an award winning, studio newborn & maternity photographer serving clients from Charlottesville, Crozet and in the Richmond, Virginia areas

Drawing from her experience as a former UVA NICU nurse, Angela provides expert care and safety when handling newborns. With a portfolio of over 1000 stunning newborn and baby photos spanning 14 years, Angela’s talent truly shines.

Angela is a featured newborn photographer at Martha Jefferson Hospital’s Labor and Delivery Unit and was voted one of the BEST maternity & newborn photographers in Charlottesville in 2023, 2024 & most recently 2025 by the Readers’ Choice Awards and Charlottesville fans.

We can’t recommend Angela for newborn photos enough! Venturing out for your first outing, especially when it’s your first baby, can feel overwhelming and scary, but Angela made us feel so comfortable and at ease! The studio is easy to access, clean and comfortable, (almost to the point it’ll put you to sleep like your baby!) She also has snacks and drinks for the parents, which is a nice touch. Her hospitality really shined when I started leaking and she had breast pads for moms. Small details like that really shine and showcase how she cares for her families. I was also worried about if my baby would be fussy or not cooperate, and if that would mean we would be under a time crunch for our shoot. My baby cooperated (thanks to the perfect environment she creates for them!) but even if he didn’t, she never makes you feel rushed. My baby got hungry halfway through and we were able to stop and feed him. On top of all that, the photos were amazing and really captured our baby’s personality! She is a miracle worker at making sure babies are soothed and camera ready! We will cherish these photos for life.

She knows exactly how to handle a newborn, and how to get them calm (asleep) and posed. Her scenes and accessories are so creative and precious. The photos turned out absolutely amazing. When I found out we were expecting baby number two, one of the things I was most looking forward to was getting to do another newborn session with Angela. She is the absolute best. Her photos are stunning. So much so that we have trouble choosing what we bought in our package. Angela is able to capture the perfect picture and that is no small feat with newborns and toddlers (she’s done both for us). She is not only professional, but so sweet and kind. Every session we have had with her has been fun. It feels like catching up with an old friend. I am looking forward to scheduling more family pictures with her in the years to come.
