I dont photograph three month olds often. Most of my clients book newborn, 6 months and 1 year. Some book 3 and 9 month photos, but not many.

I do LOVE how this sleepy 3 month session turned out SO much I am planning another one for his 4/5 month photoshoot!

I spent a few days planning his outfit. I knew I wanted lots of textures. Originally I thought I was doing cream colored set up, but I might save that for a snowy day. When we stumbled upon this knit overalls I knew this color would be amazing.

Grayson came to the studio right before his morning nap, a little fussy and definitely hungry. We dressed him, fed him and his mama held him until he fell asleep. Once this sweet bub was sleeping I went to work.

We (as in my husband and I) are heading to Vegas next week to attend a concert AND a football game.

I am in the process of making reservations for our meals AND for shows on the other 5 evenings we are in town.

I would LOVE recommendations on either where to eat or what to attend.

Side note, we have no transportation and will be Ubering everywhere but staying on the strip...

I know many of you heard me talk about how I used

I know many of you heard me talk about how I used to dread parent poses when I first started doing photography 12+ years ago and how I made the switch in my brain to love them AND make them some of my favorite parts of the newborn sessions.

The biggest change I did was move family and parent poses to the START of my newborn session.
The reasons why are as follows:
a) Let's face it, it is hot in my studio. I jokingly call it hot yoga time. If you have ever looked around after an hour, we are a mess. All of us- parents included. Flushed faces, red cheeks, hair starting to frizz, (maybe arm sweats?) our clothes are wrinkled... need I say more?
b) By the end of the session. I'm tired, your tired. and the baby is tired. If I am tired, I am not going to take my time with the details. If your tired, your definitely NOT going to want to smile. if you baby is tired- in reality this means they are over stimulated and the best thing to do is be swaddled (great for solo poses) or be done with the session.
c) Moving them to the start meant I couldn't put off what I didn't want to do. I was fresh, ready, enthusiastic and open to taking my time and trying new things, new poses and moving my lights around.

The end result is I LOVE my parent poses and parent photos now. I love capturing my client's interacting, loving and breathing in their newborn babies.

There is nothing better than showing parents what I see when I witness and photograph them in love with their family.
